The Children’s Home Campus has a history of farming, providing food for the staff and residents during the early years in Catonsville. During the growing season, the TCH garden is a source of pride for residents and staff. The fenced plot is filled with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, basil, and tall corn stalks. All the ground preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting and cooking became a delicious learning experience. TCH staff and volunteers lead the agricultural effort with an abundance of assistance from TCH residents. Gardening, cooking and nutrition are a few of the many educational topics explored by older youth to prepare for independent living.
