About the BloomFest on Bloomsbury Volunteer Project
Bring your family, neighbors, scout troop, co-workers, and congregants so we can turn a couple of hours into weeks of delight for The Children’s Home residents and our community! Together, we’ll plant flowering bulbs across the campus for all to enjoy next spring.
Sign up today to join in our volunteer service day on Saturday, October 19th.
How You Can Help
We can make a big difference by working together! Here are some parts you can play in the success of the day:
- Bulb Planter: Help plant flowering bulbs to beautify our campus for the spring bloom. Planters of any age are welcome, but volunteers under age 13 must volunteer alongside an adult.
- Team Leader: Sign up to guide and support a group of volunteers, ensuring smooth and efficient planting activities. Team leaders are also asked to help recruit volunteers leading up to the event. This group will need to arrive by 8:30 am.
- Hospitality Committee: Join a team of volunteers to help set-up, welcome and assist volunteers, arrange refreshments, and ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. This group will need to arrive by 8:00 am.
Want to help more?
- Consider making a donation to help us cover the cost of bulbs and supplies.
- Contribute supplies via our Amazon Wish List so we can make an even bigger splash on campus this spring!
- Help spread the word about the event to our community. To help, we’ve got a flyer to share!
Frequently Asked Questions
- Who can volunteer?
Any member of the community is welcome to sign-up and attend. For safety, volunteers under age 13 must work alongside an adult. - Can I bring my family/friends?
Absolutely, but please make sure they are registered by October 15! - What should I wear?
Please wear clothing that is comfortable for being out in the elements, with closed toed shoes. Be aware that we may get a bit dirty. - What should I bring?
All volunteers are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to minimize plastic waste. Bulb planters are asked to bring a spade or small shovel. Although we’ll have some on site, work gloves would also be useful. - Where should I park?
Parking will be available in the west field, marked by “P” on the map. To access the field, enter through the campus main entrance, take the first left, and then turn left into the field. Signs will be posted to help guide the way. - What if it rains?
Try as we might, we can’t control the weather. We’ll do our best to go forward whether or not the weather is cooperating. That said, if the forecast is too bleak, we will notify all registered volunteers via email the night before. We will also post a notice at the top of this webpage. - Will there be food?
Snacks will be offered throughout the event; please bring a water bottle to cut down on plastic waste. - How else can I help?
Please consider making a donation to the flower fund, or purchasing supplies from our Amazon Wish List. We would also appreciate your help in spreading the word. Here is a flyer (as a PDF), and here is an Social Media post to share. Additionally, please take plenty of pictures to share with our photo album. - My question isn’t answered here. Who should I contact?
Please reach out to Aaron Gartrell (project leader) or Christy Page (staff support).
