The Children’s Home has worked for 160 years to ensure that the holidays are a happy time for the children in our care. Each child works with mentors and staff to complete a holiday wish list. New lists might be added during the course of the season as more children move into our Home.
Will you join us in this long-lasting tradition and share some joy with the kids who need it most?
Thanks to Our Sponsors!

Volunteer Opportunities
Creating a holiday experience for so many kids takes a lot of love and a lot of work. Help make the holidays brighter by signing up to be a volunteer “elf.” We have several opportunities throughout the month of December, with differing activity levels. Please note that in-person volunteers must be age 12 or older, and that each volunteer ages 12-18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
- Drop-off elf: Be one of the first to spread holiday cheer by greeting donors curbside during evening and weekend shifts. As a Drop-off Elf, you’ll accept donations, bring them in, and sort them where they need to go. This role is perfect for those with a bit of strength who don’t mind navigating many stairs to help brighten the season!
- Sorting elf: Dive into the festive spirit by organizing and reviewing donations during short daytime shifts. As a Sorting Elf, you’ll ensure each gift finds its place. This role is ideal for elves who don’t mind a bit of lifting, navigating stairs, and working closely in busy, cheerful quarters.
- Present Picker: Assist in ensuring each resident receives their most wished-for gifts! As a Present Picker, you’ll match the contents of each resident’s gift bin with their unique wish list, verifying that everything is accurate and complete. This role is ideal for detail-oriented elves who don’t mind working in a bit of clutter and can manage navigating stairs as they work to make holiday wishes come true.
- Wrapping elf: Bring the magic of the holidays to life by helping wrap presents in the final days before Christmas! This role is suited to patient elves who enjoy working in the hustle and bustle, embracing a bit of organized chaos, and managing entry and exit stairs as they add the finishing touches to each gift.
- Greetings elf: Sign up to make holiday greeting cards for each of our residents, using the names on our wish list page. This is a great activity for a group or organization. Please sign these cards with only your first name and do not include any contact information. These cards can be delivered during any Drop-Off Day.
- Stocking elf: Sign up to make personalized stockings for residents using the names on our wish list page. The stockings can be delivered during any Drop-Off Day.
- Community elf: Help us spread the word by sharing our Facebook and Instagram posts, sharing this flyer, or otherwise help to get the word out. (No sign-up required.)
