Ralph Ronald Godsey

March 28, 1938-October 19, 2021

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delights in his way.

Psalm 37:23

Ralph Ronald Godsey was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 28, 1938, one of seven of the late Earl and Ella Godsey.  After a lengthy illness, he went home to be with Lord.

Ralph was educated in the Baltimore City School system.  He graduated from Dunbar Senior High School in February, 1956.  Upon completion of high school, he joined the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1963 after six years of service.

After leaving the Marine Corps, Ralph was employed at the American Smelting Company and afterwards worked for the Lever Brothers, now known as Unilever, a company which makes soap, beauty and food products.  He retired from this company in 1997.

Ralph was blessed to have found a compassionate woman of unfailing faith in Maudestine McLeod and joined her in holy matrimony on August 22, 1963 and enjoyed fifty-eight years of wedded bliss.

This model couple were blessed with two strong sons, Ronald and Brian, who saw their father as a hardworking provider.  He made sure that they attended college and did something meaningful in their lives. Ronald is now a property manager/entrepreneur and Brian is a network administrator.

The Godseys inspired others to love better as they opened their hearts to serve God and other people.  It is because this that the family is asking for your support for the Children’s Home.  Ralph loved his kids and grandkids dearly.  Helping other kids thrive would warm his spirit.

Having lived a life full of laughter and joy, Ralph’s life was a testament to the scripture in Proverbs 17:22 that reads “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.”  Ralph was known to laugh out loud in church or at some other quiet function.  He was usually joyful, pleasant and outgoing, and was always happy to see you.

Ralph was preceded in death by three brothers: Roy Godsey, Robert Godsey, and Richard Godsey; two sisters: Ardena Wellington and Regina Godsey.

He leaves to mourn his loss: a devoted wife, Maudestine; two faithful sons: Ronald (Cheryl) and Brian (Jeanelle); four granddaughters: Jader, Mayah, Kaia and little Journey Lynn; one grandson, Mason; one brother, Raymond (Gloria); one sister-in-law, Bettye McLeod and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
